In Kiev there was an unfortunate and absurd incident - parts of the artistic stained glass, which decorated the front entrance to the Children's Music School # 13 named after Glinka, was discovered ... near the garbage cans. The event happened on the street of Mykilsko-Slobidskaya, 4, and the finding was the first to report the researcher of the architecture of modernism Elmir Ettinger.
It is about the work of "Symphony of Light" of Kiev artist Denis Kutnyakhov, created in 2010 as part of updating the ceremonial entrance to the school. It was a modern example of monumental art - colored glass with chestnut ornaments, mounted in the ceiling above the entrance and intended for soft lighting of the inner space.
However, stained glass windows were not only thrown away - they were taken away from the school, which looks like an attempt to hide the source of origin. Paradoxically, the image of one of the stained glass is still used on the official Facebook page of the school.
In the school itself, the incident was explained by the usual "inattention". Director of the State Enterprise №13 them. Glinka Oksana Demchenko stated that a technician who was "not aware of art" and decided to dispose of a damaged object without coordination with management.
However, this version looks unconvincing. According to the researchers, the stained glass hangs just above the front door of the school, and it was difficult to not notice. In addition, this is not the first case of destruction of art objects in the walls of this institution - earlier during the repair, original interiors of panels were lost.
This time, the final destruction was avoided thanks to Kievanka Olena Borisov and Eugene Trebukh, who found fragments and handed them over to the author. Artist Denis Kutnyakhov was shocked by news, but already agreed to restore. Therefore, the Symphony of Light has a chance to sound again - this time not only in the musical but also in the cultural sense.
