An outbreak of acute intestinal infection caused by rotavirus was recorded in one of the kindergartens in Chernihiv. Six children and one adult were injured. This was reported in the Chernihiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The outbreak occurred within the last week. As of December 25, all the infected are hospitalized and receiving the necessary treatment. As noted by Artem Yaroshenko, deputy general director of the regional control center, the main symptoms of the disease were diarrhea, vomiting and high temperature.
To contain the situation in the children's institution, a number of anti-epidemic measures have been organized, including disinfection of premises, inspection of food products and medical examination of contact persons.
Rotavirus infection is a highly contagious disease that often affects young children. It is transmitted by the fecal-oral route, through contaminated food, water or contact with contaminated surfaces.
Symptoms of the disease include:
- diarrhea;
- vomiting;
- high temperature;
- general weakness
Doctors emphasize the importance of maintaining hygiene to prevent the spread of infection. If symptoms of rotavirus appear, seek medical attention immediately.
According to experts, similar outbreaks often occur in children's institutions due to high crowding of children and possible violations of sanitary standards.
The situation is currently under control. Experts continue monitoring to prevent possible spread of infection. Parents are asked to monitor their children's health and provide them with proper hygiene at home.
