In Ternopil region, police investigators reported suspicions to two state registrars who illegally changed data in the State Register of Real Property Rights. As a result, a land plot with an area of over 2 hectares was re-registered.
According to the investigation, both suspects are residents of Chortkiv district, who worked as state registrars for local governments. In different years, they entered inaccurate information about the same plot of land, using documents that did not provide legal grounds for acquiring or changing property rights.
As a result of such actions, the right to sublease the land was illegally registered.
Both men were charged under Part 3 of Article 362 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — unauthorized actions with information processed in automated systems, committed by persons with access rights, which caused significant damage.
The sanction of the article provides for three to six years of imprisonment with an additional punishment in the form of a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in relevant activities for up to three years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are investigating the possible involvement of officials in other land frauds.
