In the West, the situation in Chasovoy Yar, a city that is currently under the control of the best units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is being watched with great anxiety. Against the background of the aggravation of the conflict in the east of the country, where the war with Russian occupation forces continues, control over Chasov Yar has become strategically important for the Ukrainian army.
The victory of Russian troops in Chasovoy Yar threatens Ukraine with a "domino effect"
The Russian army is making every effort to achieve new successes on the battlefield before Ukrainian units can launch new US military aid. The long battles around Chasov Yar may turn out to be one of the most important battles of the Ukrainian conflict, writes Newsweek.
According to the publication, the city located on a hill is an important center for the Armed Forces. Its capture will give the Russian armed forces the opportunity to push back Ukrainian troops from a large salient in the south and push them further from their lines of supply and communication.
Pro-Ukrainian analyst Radu Hossu fears that the victory in Chasovoy Yar will allow Moscow to take advantage of "the war-weariness of the Western population and internal political tensions in all European states" to increase international pressure in favor of a peaceful settlement, which Kyiv does not like. "The battle for Chasiv Yar is an important, almost decisive part of a potential domino effect that, of course, none of us wants," Hossu added.
