The new head of the Polissya Forestry Office of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" Vitaliy Koshmak has found himself in the spotlight after the publication of declarations demonstrating a sharp increase in the volume of his family's property. According to the documents, in just one day the couple purchased more than two hectares of land and a new apartment in the Rivne region. Taken together, the assets of Koshmak and his wife indicate a significant increase in wealth, which coincided with the official's career advancement in the state forestry sector.
According to the declaration, over the past year, Koshmak received UAH 697,000 in salary at the Dubno Forestry Farm, UAH 138.5 thousand at the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" and another UAH 100,000 as the head of the Polissya Forestry Office. The family's main income comes from the entrepreneurial activity of his wife, Maryna Koshmak, who, according to the KVED, is engaged in the production of ready-made food. Her income for the year was UAH 2.37 million.
On October 31, 2024, the couple made a series of significant acquisitions: three land plots in the village of Velikiye Verbche with a total area of over 20 thousand square meters and an apartment with an area of 57.1 sq. m, registered half for Vitaliy Koshmak himself and half for his brother Serhiy.
The family also owns a number of real estate properties belonging to the official's wife: two houses with built-in shops in Stepan and Maly Verbchi, a house with an area of 269 sq. m in Maly Verbchi (estimated at 500 thousand UAH), as well as an unfinished construction of a garden house with an area of 233 sq. m in Velyky Zhytyn near Rivne. A separate apartment in Rivne is registered to Natalia Tyvonchuk, who, according to public relations, is a close relative of the Koshmakis.
In June 2024, his wife purchased a 2011 Skoda Superb. The value of the car was not indicated in the declaration. Koshmak declared 250,000 UAH of cash, and his wife declared 5,000 dollars and 3,000 euros.
Market analysts and experts who study the work of "Forests of Ukraine" point out that the sharp accumulation of family assets falls precisely on the period of Koshmak's career growth in the state-owned enterprise. According to them, the practice of concentrated buying up of real estate and land is typical for some of the management of the forestry industry, where the risks of shadow income, illegal logging and abuse of state property are traditionally recorded.
