The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a decision to strengthen the military component in higher education institutions. As Prime Minister Yulia Svirydenko reported, from now on, training of reserve officers will become a mandatory part of education for students of medical and pharmaceutical specialties.
The government emphasizes that the country needs military medical specialists and trained personnel who can be called upon if necessary. The introduction of mandatory military training for future medics should strengthen the reserve and enhance the state's defense capabilities.
The Cabinet of Ministers has updated the list of universities that will provide relevant training, and also clarified the professional standard for reserve officers. It includes:
-
expanded knowledge and skills requirements,
-
updated competencies required for the service,
-
detailed training programs.
According to Svyrydenko, the educational process will be strengthened: the amount of study time will be increased by 20%, and the programs will be structured to a single standard with clear requirements for theory and practice.
There are currently 33 military training departments in Ukraine that train reserve officers. The government expects that after the approved changes, the quality of training will increase, and the personnel reserve will become more prepared and numerous.
