Health experts are warning that some nighttime symptoms that many people tend to ignore could be early signs of a dangerous disease. According to The Mirror, citing data from Cancer Research UK, excessive night sweats and insomnia could signal the development of cancer.
Experts say that sweating during sleep is not always a cause for concern — sometimes it is caused by a high temperature in the room or a warm blanket. However, if night sweats occur regularly without an obvious reason, it is worth seeing a doctor. This symptom can be associated with lymphoma or other types of cancer, as well as side effects of medications or infections.
Another symptom that should not be ignored is insomnia. Sleep problems can occur due to stress, anxiety, chronic fatigue or psycho-emotional exhaustion, however, according to experts from Cancer Research UK, they sometimes indicate cancer.
"If insomnia becomes a frequent occurrence, it significantly affects the quality of life: a person experiences fatigue, irritability, loss of concentration, and decreased energy," experts emphasize.
Among other possible symptoms of cancer, experts call:
-
chronic fatigue;
-
unexplained bleeding or bruising;
-
prolonged weakness;
-
sudden weight loss;
-
the formation of lumps or bumps on the body.
Doctors emphasize that the appearance of any incomprehensible symptoms is a good reason to consult a doctor. Early diagnosis of cancer significantly increases the chances of successful treatment.
