In recent days, information has emerged that some Ukrainians residing in Poland have begun receiving summonses demanding their return to Ukraine to perform military service. However, these documents turned out to be fake.
This was reported by the Office for Foreigners of Poland.
It is noted that Ukrainians are receiving fake letters on behalf of the Warsaw Office for Foreigners.
The messages urge Ukrainian citizens to perform military service, warning of legal liability for evasion, including arrest and extradition.
“In accordance with current legislation, in particular the law on military service, and in connection with the ongoing mobilization, we inform you that on December 17-31, 2024, we are planning a visit to your place of residence, which is located at… The purpose of the visit is to deliver you to the mobilization point,” the letter dated December 12, 2024, states.
The letters also recommend contacting the relevant legal or consular institutions of Ukraine in Poland in case of any doubts. At the same time, the Department for Foreigners' Affairs noted that they are not the authors of such messages.
As a reminder, Witold Tumanowicz, a member of the Polish Sejm from the Confederation party, has proposed banning Ukrainian military personnel from entering Poland after the war. He believes this is necessary to prevent a potential threat from former soldiers.
