The war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine could end this summer — by August 24, when Ukraine celebrates Independence Day. This assessment was made by retired US Army Lieutenant General and former US Presidential Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“I truly believe that if Ukraine survives this winter — January and February — and comes out in March and April, the advantage will be on your side, on the side of Ukraine,” Kellogg said during the discussion “Ukraine: The Future on the Front Lines.” He added that the coming months are critical for the course of the war.
According to the former American general, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are capable of completely stopping Russia's offensive, and he hopes that by Independence Day there will be peace on Ukrainian soil.
At the same time, the day before in Davos, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, noted that Ukraine is “on the path to a radical resolution of the war.” However, according to him, it would be incorrect to talk about a quick achievement of peace at this time.
