Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation with the support of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and detained a law enforcement officer from Vinnytsia region, who offered an illegal crossing of the border of a military man. For crossing to Moldova, an official chose an exotic way - on an inflatable mattress across the Dniester River.
According to the investigation, the official offered his "services" to a man who was looking for a way to escape from the country to bypass official checkpoints. During a personal meeting, the law enforcement officer assured that he could organize the border crossing or become a mediator. For this he demanded $ 4,000, warning that the amount could increase in the event of attracting other persons.
According to the plan, at a certain time, the law enforcement officer had to deliver the bias to the house near the state border. From there, the man had to cross the Dniester to Moldova on an inflatable mattress. However, instead of earnings in the scheme, the official himself got into the hands of the DBR during the transfer of funds.
The investigation establishes whether he acted independently or was part of an organized group. According to operational information, the detainee could have accomplices who were systematically engaged in illegal export of conscripts abroad.
The law enforcement officer has already been informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - obtaining an undue benefit by an official, combined with extortion. The sanction of the article provides up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
