Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his observations regarding Western countries' fear of Russia and the politicization of Ukrainian victims in relations with Moscow. His statement reflects the complex political situation in the region and the balance of power between Ukraine and Russia.
Western countries are afraid of Russia, and Ukrainian victims have become "politics," Zelensky said.
His words came in the context of the West helping Israel repel an Iranian air attack but refusing to do the same in Ukraine.
“If countries do not help Ukraine with their own forces because they are afraid that there will be a war with Russia, it means that they are really afraid of Russia. And if countries provide such assistance to Israel, it means that they are sure that there will be no war with Iran. And this is the cynicism of the situation. Because if they are sure that there will be no war with Iran, then I believe that this is the unpleasant moment. That there is some kind of behind-the-scenes game. And, perhaps, for someone, all these victims are just politics,” Zelenskyy said.
He says he was “shocked” by how the allies helped Israel repel the Iranian attack, but he doesn’t understand “what’s wrong with the Ukrainians.”.
“Regardless of the countries, regardless of the fact that Israel is not a NATO country. Regardless of the fact that I have not seen a very serious, powerful document between France and Israel, like, for example, between the USA and Israel, or an alliance document of NATO countries with Israel. That is, we simply saw how the armies, pilots and weapons of several allied states destroyed 99% of everything that flew at the heads of the Israelis,” Zelenskyy said.
We will remind, the US stated that it will not shoot down missiles over Ukraine, because these are "different conflicts, different airspace, different threat landscape.".
