Ukraine will probably have to return to discussing the issue of introducing certain restrictions in the field of mobile communications, said Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov, a specialist in communication systems and electronic warfare.
According to the expert, this is not about disconnecting communications as such, but some restrictions may affect the "rules of service provision" for users.
“The Russian Federation is introducing the same measures. For about a month now, all SIM cards from other countries have not been provided with data transfer services when registered in Russia, but only calls for 24 hours,” Beskrestnov explained in his Telegram channel.
He also reported that Russia is currently discussing a new norm - a ban on full access to the network for SIM cards that have been offline for more than 72 hours. According to "Flash", such steps indicate the occupiers' fears of a repeat of Operation "Web", when SBU drones carried out a series of attacks on military facilities using LTE communication for guidance.
The expert also commented on the recent threats by the Russian Federation to “flood Kyiv” by striking the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant dam. In his opinion, it will be difficult for the Russians to completely destroy the structure — at most, they can damage individual elements, which will lead to a water leak, but not a catastrophe.
In addition, Beskrestnov has repeatedly drawn attention to the development of Russian electronic warfare systems. According to his estimates, over the past year the Russian Federation has created a comprehensive system for countering Ukrainian reconnaissance drones, the key element of which is modern radar stations (in particular, the SKVP radar).
