Shmigal told how much money has already been received from Ukraine from frozen Russian assets

Ukraine insists on the complete confiscation of Russian frozen assets, which in 2022 were blocked by the countries of the Great Seven (G7). It is about about 300 billion euros belonging to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. These funds can be a key source of funding for Ukraine after the war.

Prime Minister Denis Shmigal stressed that Ukraine is already getting funds derived from frozen Russian assets.

What are the money already received?

  • March 3-9-The United Kingdom transferred 752 million pounds to Ukraine (equivalent of UAH 40.39 billion at the NBU rate).
  • March 13 - Canada has transferred $ 2.5 billion in Canadian (UAH 72.1 billion).

This is only the beginning of the process, as Kiev is actively working with international partners so that the Kremlin's confiscated assets are fully transferred to Ukraine.

At the same time, the mechanism of arrest and sale of sub -assets is already operating in Ukraine. According to Shmigal, the asset and asset management agency (ARMA) has already received permission to sell military bonds of the Russian company "Royal Pay Yurop" for a total amount of UAH 1.8 billion.

Money from sale will go:

  • to the state budget;
  • to the Ukraine restoration fund to eliminate the consequences of war.

Earlier, ARMA has already sent UAH 423 million from the asset management of the same company to the Fund for the Elimination of Armed Aggression.

Ukraine continues pressure on partners to find legal mechanisms for the complete confiscation of Russian assets. After all, these funds are frozen, and their use is only possible through making appropriate decisions by individual countries or international institutions.

It is worth noting that the European Union has already decided to use interest from Russian assets, but Kiev insists that this is not enough. Ukraine wants to get the entire amount and send it to the reconstruction of infrastructure, social facilities and military support.

Thus, the struggle for complete confiscation of EUR 300 billion is ongoing, and Ukraine has every chance of gaining these funds in favor of its future.
