The commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pavlyuk, announced plans to create 10 new brigades aimed at preparing for a possible offensive from Russia. According to him, this is one of the most urgent tasks facing the army.
Pavlyuk emphasized that Ukraine needs equipment, not just people. There is a tangible need for artillery and armored vehicles, which the general hopes the West will provide.
According to the "Veteran Hub" portal, a brigade can include from 1,000 to 8,000 people and has various structural units, such as headquarters, services, combat battalions and divisions, support units, etc.
According to Pavlyuk, some of these new forces will be deployed to protect Kyiv, as the capital remains one of the main concerns. Pavlyuk noted that the Russian army can no longer carry out large-scale raids on several fronts and uses missiles much faster than before. The armed forces of Ukraine have also grown significantly over the past two and a half years.
As for the threats to the capital, it is different from the one at the beginning of the war. Russia is planning a new large-scale offensive with the aim of seizing more territories, including regions that were already partially occupied earlier.
It is worth noting that officials in Kyiv are concerned about a possible attack on Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine.
As of May, the Russian Federation deployed 52 launchers of the Iskander missile complex along the border with Ukraine.
